Purpose of the Position:
• To deliver effective, high quality instruction that includes
rigor and relevance in content areas in an effort to produce
measurable results of student achievement.

Essential Functions of the Position:
Deliver standards-based instruction in assigned content area(s) and grade level(s) that ensures academic growth for
all students
Master the necessary content knowledge and skills to
successfully teach assigned content area(s) and grade
level(s)
Develop daily and unit lesson plans and a scope and
sequence that are thoughtful, goal-oriented and aligned with
curriculum and carefully planned for substitute teachers
when unable to attend school
Develop positive appropriate relationships with students,
including explicit recognition of their growth (i.e., positive
calls home, notes, etc.)
Consistently implement the school-wide student
management policies within the classrooms and through the
school campus
Communicate regularly with parents
Grow as a professional educator with classes/workshops
for professional development
Certification: Possess or the ability to obtain a K - 6
(Elementary) Indiana Teaching Certification
All instructional personnel shall have teaching certificates, duly
recorded in the office of the superintendent of schools, that legally
qualify them for the work to which they are assigned. A permit, in
an emergency situation, may be considered satisfactory.

Job Description:
- Plan and supervise fire and tornado drills
- Have first hand knowledge of school disaster plans.
- Be directly responsible to the Superintendent of Schools.
- Participate through the Superintendent in the development of recommendations for policies and regulations necessary for the operation of the school.
- Lead and direct school personnel in all facets of the instructional program.
- Be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the school.
- Evaluate all members of the staff, both certified and non-certified, in accordance with Board policy. The Principal shall make recommendations to the Superintendent for staff selections or terminations.
- Supervises all certified, non-certified, and administrative personnel in the building.
- Be responsible for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations.
- Provide leadership in the development, revision, and evaluation of the school’s curriculum to meet the needs of the students and community and assist with evaluations of student progress toward stated educational objectives.
- Actively participate in recruiting, screening, interviewing, training, assigning and hiring of the certified staff.
- Conduct staff meetings as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
- Cooperate with college and university officials regarding teacher training and assistance.
- Supervise the maintenance of accurate records on the attendance and progress of students and assume responsibility for the attendance of students under the laws of Indiana.
- Attend all special activities held to recognize student achievement, and attend or provide for supervision of school sponsored activities, functions or events.
- Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline as necessary, according due process to the rights of students.
- Assume responsibility for classification, promotion or retention of students.
- Assist with conferences of parents and teachers when asked.
- Supervise and evaluate the extra-curricular programs and staff.
- Supervise and assume responsibility for the preparation, accuracy, and timely submission of all local, district, State and Federal reports.
- Act as a liaison between the school and the community.
- Delegate authority to responsible personnel for the school in the absence of the principal.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or Board.
Job Qualifications:
- The building level Principal shall have earned a Master’s Degree or higher, preferably with a major in School Administration, and be able to qualify for a valid Indiana certification to practice as a School Principal.
- The Principal shall have at least three years experience as a classroom teacher.
- The Principal shall be able to provide leadership for the building and staff.
Length of Contracts: 220 Days
