Message from the Superintendent

“We Are Trojans”

Dear Wood Memorial Jr/Sr. High Students and Parents/Guardians,

After a couple of years of unknowns, I look forward to a year where we are diligent about safety but also head toward some normalcy. My passion for educating children has been shaped over the past twenty years in Spencer, Vanderburgh, and Gibson counties as a social studies teacher, football coach, assistant principal, principal, director of student services, chief leadership strategist, and most recently the superintendent of East Gibson School Corporation.  In each position, it has always been my goal to provide every child who walks through the door with an opportunity to learn and participate in extracurricular activities in a school with a culture and climate that promotes excellence.

As many know due to declining enrollment and revenue, we will be finalizing a reorganization plan for the 2023-24 school year this fall. This plan will set us up to continue to offer a well-rounded education which means rigorous academic instruction from top-notch teachers as well as opportunities outside the classroom for students to develop character and cultivate passions.  Most importantly, we hope to facilitate an excellent education through student, parent, and staff collaboration.

I encourage you to take advantage of the Harmony online system in order to gain information about the academic progress of your student.  Information is updated on a weekly basis, providing you with the latest data.  For questions regarding Harmony, you may contact the office for assistance.  I am looking forward to a great year!

Yours in Education,

James  Wilson
